Hi,
I am Carol Roberts and I am the designer behind “Cherry Pie” Designs.
My love affair with quilting began about 14 years ago…prior to that I was doing needle work of most descriptions.
For me I just love to make Olde world quilts, using antique quilts as inspiration as well as antique quilting designs. Inspiration can be found in most places if we look hard enough…anything from nature, fabric images, architectual shapes or just colour. So keep your eyes open for that perfect inspirational item.
Fabric choices for me revolve around reproduction fabrics and my special choice is “Yuwa” fabric. You will find these style of fabrics on my website.
Applique using freezer paper as well as the English paper method of applique are my two preferred choices. I do believe however that the method that you should use is the one that you most feel comfortable with.
I live on the Central Coast of NSW in a lovely rural area with my husband, teenage daughter and son. Both the children now work and you would think that this would leave all the time in world to sew….alas this does not. I seem to be just a busy.
Feel free to contact me or view all my patterns and fabric through my website…
Look forward to hearing from you
Carol

Dear Carol,
As promised at the DH QS on Friday, here is the name of the book I was telling you about.
‘Folk Art Quilts – 20 Unique Designs from the American Museum in Britain’ (Bath Museum). It is by Anne Hulbert and the Historical Consultant was Shiela Betterton. I do hope you can locate a copy as it is a lovely book and I am sure you would love to have it as an addition to your library. BTW, I love your ‘Round the cherry tree’ quilt. Is that one still for sale?
Regards,
Jessica Davis May
Hi Jessica,
thanks for the information about the book. I will be making a point of looking for it.
The pattern ,Around the cherry tree , was a project in Country Threads magazine year book, Issue 10/7 which i think came out in January of this year. If you cant get a copy let me know and I can organize a pattern for you.
Kind regards
carol
